Class synopsis

WRITE HOT! Learn techniques that define what drives character's intentions and desires. In this workshop writers will find their personal ‘hot’ button, energize their authentic voice and discover what drives their characters.

In this interactive workshop, participants write and share their stories. identify one word that drives their writing. Through writing, participants will intensify their character's drive, desire and wants.

Using examples from poetry using handouts and chat room Q and A. 4 WEEK SESSION for WRITE HOT! with Anne Randolph
Week 1: Introductions, Class members tell “Something few people know about them” They then write about this reveal and share by reading content aloud. All comments are to be positive based.
Week 2: A poem introduces and closes each class. Students write for 15 minute period drawing inspiration from the poem.Class members read aloud assigned material they have written. Participants make comments on what they have head. All comments are positive based. Assignments are made for the next class.
Week 3: A poem introduces and closes each class. Students write for 15 minute period drawing inspiration from the poem. Class members read aloud assigned material they have written. Week 4: Students make a list and then discuss skills they have learned through this workshop. A new poem introduces and closes this class. Students write for 15 minutes about what they have learned from each other. Class members read aloud what they have written. Participants make comments on what they have learned and make suggestions of other skills they would like to learn. All comments are positive based.

After work as director of three opera companies and the Colorado Symphony, Anne Randolph leads www.KitchenTableWriting.com workshops in Denver and at conferences including RMFW Colorado Gold, Poetry West and the Screenwriters Conference in Santa Fe. She was the first Fulcrum Publishing Fellow, has been awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and has an MA and MFA in Literature and Theater.
