At Story Circle Network, we have always known that women’s life stories matter. Throughout our 23-year history, we’ve been committed to helping you tell yours. The tragic events of the past few months have renewed our passion to lift up the lives of women through the healing force of story.
We grieve over the loss of Breonna Taylor, Sandra Bland, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and too many others in the Black community.
We denounce the systemic racism that throughout our country’s history has led to violence and loss of life. We mourn with Black mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, granddaughters, nieces, and all Black women and girls who have endured so much pain. We support them in telling their stories, and we will amplify their voices. Stories spark understanding and drive change.
Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
Our eyes have been opened wide. We know we have much to learn. We at Story Circle Network will take this opportunity to “do better” to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in our organization in a more intentional and deliberate fashion. We actively stand in solidarity with our members and all women and girls who face racism and discrimination. We are committed to making this a priority.
As we join together in mourning for the lives lost, please know that Story Circle Network is listening and working with you toward a society of love, justice, and respect for all.
