I Thought it was a Joke

5:30am Alaska time, my alarm is going off, to a local talk radio station. I wasn't even paying attention to it as I got myself dressed and ready to go to work. Still oblivious to what had happened, I got in my truck, and headed off to work. Having a 30 minute drive to work I turned on the radio. 650am KENI. I again heard the news, but I thought that it was a joke. (they like to have alot of fun at the station) hearing the horrid news as I drove in to work, it didn't realy come to bear on me until I approached the exit for the Ft. Richardson exit, which had traffic backed up horridly on the right hand side. THEN it was when I realized that this was NOT a joke, that it was REAL. My heart dropped to my feet. My normal happy drive in to work was INSTANTLY shattered into a solemn expressionless drive. I then turned the radio up as much as I could, so as I could hear EVERY detail about what was going on. I was instantly saddened. I continued to work, listening intently, as they announced that the tower had collapsed. I knew then that hundreds, or thousands had been trapped inside, as it plummeted to the ground. I got to work, and the manager had not turned on the radio yet, and was oblivious to what was happening in the world. I rushed in, and turned the radio to 650 am KENI, and turned the radio up, and proceeded to inform her about what had happened in New York. She thought that I was joking. Even to the point of saying that I was full of it. I then turned her attention to the radio, and let her listen, at this point, while she was listening, the other tower collapsed. She THEN and only then began to believe me. We knew that EMT's Firemen, and Police had been inside the towers as they collapsed. The entire hospital was in shock. We ALL listened to the radios that were in the Hospital, in fact some radios got turned on that had been long since turned off, so as we could all keep informed as to what was going on. I was kind of upset with myself for thinking that it might have been a joke, but what else could I have thought it was? NOTHING like this had happened before. Then the radio station announced that yet another plane had crashed into the Pentagon. I worked my shift, and went home. Wondering WHAT was the signifigance of the date September 11th, I went online with my computer, and searched. I came up with a few interesting things. September 11th 1940. Was the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the PENTAGON. (Hmmm) September 11th 1990. President George W. Bush Sr. Vows to congress that "Saddam Hussein will fail!" Concerning the Persian Gulf Conflict.

I sat at my television, and my computer watching live streaming video until late in the night, listening, learning, fearing. I have full faith in our president, that he will find the responsible parties, and bring them to justice. I also know that my GOD will bring them justice in the end.
