Give Sorrow Words:
The Day America Changed
September 11, 2001

by Marilyn B. Miller

I'll Never Be The Same

I walked onto the floor of the hospital where I work and was told that the two towers of the World Trade Center were hit by two different planes. I was stunned! Before I had time to digest these facts, another nurse came to the nurse's station and said another plane had just hit the Pentagon! It was hard getting through the day trying to work and keep up with the updates of this terrible tradegy. I had more bad news toward the end of the day. One of our doctors, Dr. Betru, was on the plane that hit the Pentagon. He was such a wonderful man and such a good doctor. This, along with all the rest, was just too much. I wrote a poem in memorial to him and all the other lives that were lost. I feel I should post it here.

ATTACK ON AMERICA

For Dr. Betru and all who lost their lives 9/11/2001
There will never be a doctor quite like you,
You were one of the best, Dr. Betru.
Your life was cut short on that fateful day,
Yours, and so many other lives,
Were taken away.
Your plane was hi-jacked by Terrorist slime,
Their plan, to pull off a horrific crime.
Unfortunately, they succeeded as
They were not impeded.
We were so unaware,
We had no time to prepare.
All we can do as we stare at the
Destruction in the air, is lift up all
The many lost lives in sorrowful prayer.
It leaves us all in such despair,
For many of us, this is way too much to bear.
