The Day America Changed

And So It Begins...

In 1995, OKC made history with the bombing of the Murrah Building. I only made peace with that experience this year. And now this.... God? What's wrong with these people? Why are they killing us? And themselves? I don't understand. A friend sent me an e-mail called "God's Wings" that relates the story of a mama bird in Yellowstone who brought her young to the base of a tree to escape the toxic smoke. She covered them with her wings and faced the fire unafraid. The heat petrified her small body into ashes. When found later by a firefighter who touched her remains lightly with a stick, her three chicks ran from underneath her wings. She chose to die where she stood, rather than abandon her little ones. The firefighters took the babies with them and raised them by hand until they could fly away. I imagine God's wings covering all of us and facing the fire unafraid...Being loved like that should make a difference in our lives. Remember the One who loves us and then be different because of it.

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge." Psalm 91:4.

My love and prayers to all the families of victims and survivors. May God cover you with his wings.
