I can remember Pearl Harbor Day, although at age nine I no doubt didn't understand the implications. Also remember the start of the Korean War, first hearing about Vietnam before anyone had any idea what a long and costly conflict that would be. Although my memory for the facts may be a bit hazy, my memory of the incredible tension in each case is not. And that's what I sensed yesterday and today. I first heard the news when I got on the web and went to play a few hands of video poker. The people on the chat site associated with the video poker site were talking about the attack just moments after it occurred. Some of them are from New York. I went down stairs and turned on the TV. And I don't think it's been off since. I can only hope the authorities find the actual culprits, whoever they may be, and appropriate measures are taken. What I hope doesn't happen, is we hand over our liberties to the "Security" folks. Not only because I don't want my liberties curtailed, but also because I believe there would be people who could circumvent the increased security measures no matter how stringent.
