On September 11, 2001 I awoke with a start (I am on the west coast so it was 3 hours earlier here than in New York City and we are retired). My husband had signed on to AOL and I was still sleeping - but I heard someone talking and went to see what it was - only to find out that 2 planes had slammed into the 2 building of the New York City Trade Center. I immediately turned on the TV - only to stunned with the pictures I saw. It seemed like some horrow picture that they have made for the movie theaters. Then to also hear about a plane flying into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. I could hardly believe my eyes and yet the pictures were there in front of me.
Today it is September 12, 2001 almost 36 hours later and I still can't believe what is happening. I cannot believe that someone could be so intensely cruel as to murder all those innocent people in the buildings as well as the people on the planes - what a horrow those on the planes must have gone through. We have travelled quite and bit and I have a hard time imagining what must have gone on on the planes. How can people do that to other people. Then to see pictures of people in Jerusalem laughing at what had been done to innocent people in the United States. The only good thing I can think of that has come out of this so far is that it has helped Americans to band together as well as to become better Americans.
