Writing From Life Workshop
Presentation Proposal

If you have been thinking you might like to facilitate a session at one of Story Circle's events, now's the time! We have opportunities each year for women with great ideas for interactive writing: the annual Writing from Life Workshops.

The sessions for the May 2010 WFL will be organized around the theme "Using the Muses." There will be five workshops, each 90 minutes long. We ask that facilitators offer at least two opportunities for participants to write and share during that time. It is important to remember that these are writing workshops, not lectures or instruction. Women come to Story Circle events because they love to write, share, and hear women's stories, so the bulk of the time in a session should be spent doing just that.

Sixty percent of the proceeds (after expenses) are divided among the facilitators for Writing from Life Workshops. The SCN Board of Directors' Program Committee selects facilitators after reviewing all proposals. Prospective presenters are strongly encouraged to review this information page (pdf). This tentative program outline and agenda should give presenters a better idea of this year's theme and to create proposals that will fit in with the "flavor" of the workshop. Please do not post, print out, or distribute the flyer.

Proposals for Writing from Life should be submitted by using the form below. Facilitators must be members of SCN, and weight will be given to those who have attended at least one WFL Workshop, as well as those with facilitating experience. The ability to create a safe, accepting space where each woman can be heard is of primary importance.

All proposals should be submitted using the form below. Proposals will be accepted through April 1. The committee will notify each prospective facilitator of the status of her application no later than April 15.
