Schmooze the Muse Workshop Proposal

A Schmooze the Muse workshop is a six-hour, small-group writing-intensive activity. Participants bring their lunches (unless other arrangements are made). At least 1/3 of the time should be devoted to actual writing.

A strong Schmooze the Muse topic is one that
1. encourages participants to think about their life-writing in a new way
2. focuses participants' attention on writing/reading/sharing
3. makes good use of the small-group experience
4. will attract participants
A Schmooze the Muse facilitator
1. has experience in working with writing groups;
2. has expertise in the subject she's chosen; and
3. is a committed life-writer.
Financial considerations:
The enrollment limit for these workshops is eight participants. SCN collects the tuition from each participant. Following the Schmooze workshop, SCN writes a check to the facilitator for one-third of the tuition. If the workshop is fully enrolled by SCN members (8x$65), the facilitator receives $173 (one-third of $520).

NOTE: Temenos at Heron Lake, SCN's teaching facility near Bertram TX (about 50 miles northwest of Austin), is available for holding Schmooze workshops. Previous workshops have also been held in churches, the facilitators' homes, and the like.

The deadline for submitting proposals for 2005 programs is January 31, 2005. The Schmooze the Muse Committee will notify you regarding acceptance of your workshop proposal by March 1, 2005. Given other planned activities, the committee will likely choose three proposals.
