Lisa Shirah-Hiers earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Theory/Composition summa cum laude from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin and a Masters Degree in Composition from UT Austin. A former classical radio announcer on Austin's KMFA, she now pursues a double career in writing and music, teaching piano, theory and composition as well as facilitating writing workshops (often incorporating music). She has published numerous articles for the Hill Country Sun and austinwoman and is a contributing editor to the Story Circle Journal. She serves on the board of the Story Circle Network, a women's life-writing organization, and is a member of the Music Teacher's Association, the Texas and Austin District Music Teacher Associations and the Writer's League of Texas.
