The Sarton Memoir Award honors the best in women's memoirs published during 2013. Named in honor of May Sarton, who is remembered for her memoirs, novels, and poetry, the contest is sponsored by The Story Circle Network (SCN), an international nonprofit association of women memoirists and lifewriters.

Eligibility. Women's memoirs initially published in North America during the eligibility timeframe (September 1, 2012 - December 1, 2013) are eligible. Books previously published in foreign countries are eligible, if their first publication in North America is within the eligibility period. All submissions must be bound books, in their finished form. See the complete guidelines for further information.

Selection and Award. The final selection of the winner is made by professional librarians. The winner of the 2013 award will be announced on the Story Circle Network websites and to its extensive email list in April, 2014. Current and previous years' winners will be invited to attend and be honored at Stories from the Heart, the biannual SCN National Memoir Conference, Austin TX, in April of even-numbered years. Winners also receive a cash prize of $300 and a commemorative trophy, as well as free advertising on SCN's websites and in our e-letters, and more.
