La Doctora: The Journal of an American Doctor Practicing Medicine on the Amazon River
Linnea Smith

This doctor still makes house calls. In 1990, Dr. Linnea Smith went on vacation. The result? She abandoned a thriving medical practice in Wisconsin to serve the Yagua Indians in the deepest part of the Amazon rainforest of Peru alone...

  1. Have you ever visited a place and immediately feel you belong there?

  2. Have you changed careers? Why? Did you feel the change improved your life?

  3. Have you been to a jungle area? (Crocodiles are a problem in Florida as well as jungle areas else where. I guess they are a problem in some places in TX.)

  4. Do you relate to Linnea as she adjusts to her "new" life?

Comment: I visited the area where she lives in the Amazon. While we were there, she was visiting relatives in the U.S. One of my friends actually got to meet here when they were in the Amazon.
