Works of Heart Marketplace
The Marketplace will be open from 8:30am-12:30pm and 2-8pm on Saturday.
- Story Circle Network. PO Box 500127, Austin TX 78750, 512-454-9833, storycircle@storycircle.org. Proceeds from all sales go to the Story Circle Network. Kitchen Table Stories: SCN's own cookbook; Starting Points: a book of writing prompts; Your Life, Your Story; With Courage and Common Sense; Story Circle tee-shirts.
- Jill Bartel: Desert Lightning: One-of-a-kind beaded jewelry (bracelets, necklaces, earrings); hand-decorated journals; and writing-related gift items.
- Cindy Bellinger: Journaling for Women (how-to); Someone Stole My Outhouse (collection of essays); Waterwise Garden Care (gardening); blank note cards—a small poem and a drawing on the front.
- Nita Lou Bryant: Flash Fiction Gems: I'm a writer and jewelry-maker whose sole inheritance was a dusty box of old family photos. Studying the faces in these pictures I found myself dreaming up different characters and writing flash fiction (less than 1000-word) stories about them. I printed the stories on cards illustrated with a photo of the character. Then I had the idea to attach jewelry to the cards, and give them to family and friends as gifts. Flash Fiction Gems come packaged in a clear vinyl box the size and shape of a book, which makes them unique and memorable gifts for any occasion—including those occasions when you feel the need to buy yourself a little treat!
- Peggy Grose: Love and Lemon Pie: Recipes for the Body and the Soul: The Recipes for the Body are those I've collected for fifty years and raised four sons on. There are some Tex-Mex recipes, some from the Deep South, where I grew up, some from Southeast Asia where I lived and just a lot of good American food. The recipes are simple and yummy and don't take all day to prepare. The Recipes for the Soul are suggestions for communicating in loving and nurturing ways. These are not quotes—no Depak Chopra, no Dalai Lama, no Proverbs—but my own thoughts after working in the field of counseling and communication for many years and learning from study, training and experience. The reason for this format is that, here are two ways we can show love—food and the loving words with which we serve it up. Otherwise, they miss the point, don't they?
