Call for Vendors
Works of Heart Marketplace
Stories from the Heart IV is sponsored by Story Circle Network, a national, non-profit membership organization dedicated to helping women explore their lives by exploring their stories. The conference will bring together women from around the country to celebrate the stories of women's lives and discover different modes for sharing our stories: through personal essays, autobiographical fiction, poetry, drama, dance, music, art and more. The conference aims to encourage women to explore hidden or difficult chapters of our life stories; to expand our relationships with women of diverse cultures and communities; and to return to our communities and share our discoveries with others.
This year, we welcome vendors (including small publishers) who would like to sell THEIR OWN books, paper products, print-related services, writing-related items, and hand-crafted items of interest to women. We will have a limited number of tables available in a reserved "shopping area". Vendor sales will be Saturday only. The application form (with deadline for applications and vendor selection), as well as vendor guidelines, can be found below.
Postmarks will be considered when assigning table location to accepted artists. Apply early!

- Tables will be skirted. All other display material is the responsibility of the vendor.
- Please bring a drape of some sort to cover your table while you are not there.
- The Conference schedule was designed to allow plenty of free time between sessions so that women can shop and talk to writers and craftswomen. Of course we leave it up to attendees whether they want to skip a session, and up to vendors whether they want to be "open" during those sessions.
Vendor Tax Id Information
Vendor applications must include either the TX Sales and Use Tax Permit Number or a checkmark, indicating you have applied for one and are waiting for the number to be assigned. Under no circumstances will a vendor be allowed to sell her wares at the conference without a copy of her Texas Sales and Tax Use permit. Without this, Story Circle Network would be liable if you collected or submitted tax inappropriately. All applications without the permit number, or the indication you are awaiting the number, will be rejected out of hand.
How to obtain a Texas Sales and Tax Use Permit number:
- IT TAKES 4-6 WEEKS TO GET A PERMIT NUMBER SO PLAN ACCORDINGLY. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION FORM AT THE COMPTROLLER'S WEBSITE. For further information; contact the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts at 1-800-252-5555.
- Each vendor must have a permit number in her name or corporate name. Vendors may apply for a permit online at the above website.
- Vendors must display their current Texas Sales and Use Tax permit in a visible place in their booth.

Up to date information about rates and other issues is available on the website above including a downloadable Sales and Use Tax Rates booklet. Complete information on how to collect and submit tax is also available via the website.
