Stories From the Heart V
Feb 5-7, 2010

Join us at the Austin Wyndham!

Stories from the Heart V is the fifth National Women's Memoir Conference, held in Austin TX Feb 5-7, 2010, sponsored by the Story Circle Network. The conference will bring women from around the country to celebrate the stories of our lives and learn valuable lifewriting skills. Join us as we welcome readers, writers, storytellers, and any woman with a past, present, and future.

Program & Registration

The conference program offers a wide selection of workshops, panel discussions, and presentations, all focussed on women's memoir. Participants will learn how to use personal narrative as a healing art, how to gather and use their memories, and how to tell their lifestories. See the program overview for details. Ready to register? That's easy—just go to our online registration form.

See our conference website for more information.

Join us on Friday, Feb. 5, 10am-12pm, for our Heart-to-Heart mini-coaching sessions: free 15-minute conversations on writing, editing, marketing. Check out our list of helpful experts and their topics. Session signup list will open on Jan. 15, for those registered for the full conference only.

Open Mic

If you have a piece of life writing to share, the Stories from the Heart Conference Open Mic is the perfect opportunity. Conference attendees are invited to bring a piece of their writing to read during "Open Mic," Saturday, February 6. Details here. Whether you come to read, listen, or share, we look forward to seeing you there!

Works of Heart Marketplace

Our Works of Heart Marketplace showcases books, paper products, print-related services, writing-related items, and many fabulous handcrafted items. To sample the artists who are sharing their wares, go here.

Silent Auction

At the conference, we'll hold an auction of unique, delightful treasures created by artists from across the country. The auction winners will take home something very special. We'll also be giving away door prizes at the Saturday and Sunday luncheons. Just to whet your appetite, we've posted descriptions, photographs, and artist bios for many of the items so you can learn more about them and about their creators. Want to donate to the auction (or to our great collection of door prizes? There's still time! Go here for details.

Help Us Fill Our Gift Bags

It wouldn't be a conference without a gift bag, now, would it? We are accepting small items—soaps, lotions, tea bags, combs, mirrors, magnets, trinkets, note pads, pencils, pens, postcard-size advertising items, bookmarks—in lots of 50-125. These will be placed in our gift bags as take-home treats for conference-goers. Your item can be an advertisement for your work and can bear your name/logo and other advertising information; you don't have to attend the conference to have your item included. If you're interested, let us know what you'd like to donate and how many you can supply. Go here to give us the details.
