Conference Volunteers
Want to take on a responsibility that might actually be fun? One that directly affects SCN's ability to put on this phenomenal conference? Volunteers are being accepted now for our February 2010 Stories from the Heart V, SCN's fifth national women's memoir conference. Contact Jeanne Guy, this year's volunteer coordinator, to get your name on the roster of volunteers.
Assignments range from: working the vendor room, registration, sales, open mike, the story wall, scrapbook, evaluations, heart-to-heart coaching sessions, and that all encompassing duty known as floater. You'll be assigned a wonderful job and should be prepared to serve a mere two-hour shift. Assignments, times and contacts will be given to you in January.
Please contact Jeanne Guy by email, the earlier the better. We're making up our schedule NOW and we don't want to leave you out. So please volunteer before you forget it!

Help Us Fill Our Gift Bags
It wouldn't be a conference without a gift bag, now, would it? We are accepting small items—soaps, lotions, tea bags, combs, mirrors, magnets, trinkets, note pads, pencils, pens, postcard-size advertising items, bookmarks—in lots of 50-125. These will be placed in our gift bags as take-home treats for conference-goers. Your item can be an advertisement for your work and can bear your name/logo and other advertising information; you don't have to attend the conference to have your item included. If you're interested, let us know what you'd like to donate and how many you can supply. Go here to give us the details.

Wise Words from the Heart
"The human heart, at whatever age, opens only to the heart that opens in return."
—Maria Edgeworth
"The state of love is simply a state of joining within with another, heart to heart. It does not require a movement toward that person for satisfaction, for there is already joining present. When I meet you in my own heart, there is nowhere else to go."
—Paul Ferrini
